These lecture notes are a lightly edited version of the ones I handed out while teaching Physics 8.962, the graduate course in General Relativity at MIT, during Spring 1996. Each of the chapters is available here as PDF. The notes as a whole are available as gr-qc/9712019. What is even more amazing, the notes have been translated into French by Jacques Fric. Je ne parle pas francais, mais cette traduction devrait etre bonne.

The primary purpose of these html notes is to allow speech reading software to convert equations into synthesised speech. This should (hopefully) work. I have made no effort to make the equations look pretty and while they appear nicely on some browsers, they fail to render correctly on others. If you're not using speech conversion software then you will likely be better served by the lecture notes in pdf form.
